Why I Want To Learn Spanish
I want to learn Spanish because there are many benefits of speaking Spanish. The biggest reason I want to learn Spanish is because my cousins are from Spain and speak Spanish and I would really like to communicate with them and visit them in Spain. This would be a really cool thing to do. I would also like to travel places and knowing Spanish will help me learn other languages and visit different countries. In the article Why Spanish Isn't Enough they said “Whether it's through Spanish words and phrases leaking into our daily speak, the music we listen to, the actors we watch, or the gradual absorption of Latino cultures and traditions, the influence of Spanish is pervasive.” This shows how great it is to learn another language. With this Spanish class I will learn a lot and reach my goals with Spanish.
Park Elementary Reading Project
This project was were our spanish class went to Park Elementry School and got to help spanish speeking kids that needed help in school and we got to read to them in spanish. My partner was Zaria, she's a second grader that was learning both spanish and engligh. This was really cool and I felt really good about helping these kids. I read The Cat In the Hat and The Little Train That Could in spanish.

When we first got to Park I was kind of nervous and I was afraid my little wouldn't like me. When we met each other she was really shy for a few minutes but then after the activity she got less shy and started having fun. The activity was with balloons and that was really fun and helped everyone connect with their buddies. After that was class time and that was fun being able to help my buddy with work. When we went back for the second time my buddy was way less shy and remembered my name. It was a lot of fun being with the kids and it was funny seeing their energy.
These bilingual kids are really amazing and I think overlooked in the modern class room. I feel that the students and teachers sometimes look over all these things about these kids and how different everything is to them. For my buddy she was still learning spanish along with reading all english books. This could be a big struggle for the bilingual kids and It makes everything more complicated. I also feel they have a tough time relating to the kids at school. From the looms of it there are not a lot of bilingual kids at Park and there a lot of non bilingual kids everywhere here. This might make it hard for the kids to relate with others as much as other kids do.
This whole thing did impact me a lot and I saw how different life was for the buddies and how cool it is to learn a language when still young. This does motivate me to learn more spanish and any language to really be open to the world as the kids were. I liked seeing the buddies read some spanish and seeing the sparkle in their eyes when we would help or play with them. I think in this modern day the bilingual kids feel different Than the rest of the kids and just being there for them really makes me feel good. If I could do this whole thing again I would really like to be able to help out more and know what’s going on so I can be better at helping my buddy out.
In the end, this was an amazing experience being able to connect with the kids and my old childhood. I loved being able to be there for my buddy and reading to them just made it feel that more special. I loved being able to go out to recess, I forgot about all of the fun things you had when you were a kid. I feel more connected to spanish and I can’t to learn some more
